A new understanding of evolution has arrived. The bones of a proto-human race have begun to
speak to us. What shall we do by way of celebration? Compare notes and maps? One of the most dramatically important events since our first Future History Journal in 1992 is the
increasingly significant role played by archaeologists, psychologists, and theologians who are only some of the thinkers providing us with an understanding of who we are and where we have come
from. Archaeologists are uncovering evidence of how the "great footprints" and "miniature skulls" of the past testify
to the great diversity and inventiveness of the Adamic race upon this planet — all of which is beginning to make us
question our past assumptions. When Thomas Huxley, one of Charles Darwin's admiring scientific colleagues, was
advocating Darwin's theory of evolution 125 years ago, very few in the world believed that his brand of evolution
would become ‘the religion’ of secular thinking by the end of the next century. Now we are pushing the frontiers
beyond ‘historically defined’ evolution into a much larger picture of who we really are, a re-tuning of teleology and an assertion that we are only one of many ‘other players’ in planetary evolution.
Today, large numbers of researchers and writers are addressing some of the most interesting scientific challenges of
our time. Many, working in the Developing World, are often under the limitations of not having the clout of big
university funding to openly study the nature of cosmic origins and parallel evolutions, and yet are still recognizing
that humankind on this planet may be the by-product of a larger design of life in the Cosmos. Other thinkers in the
field of the new science (e.g. Lord Hill-Norton, U.K.) have hinted that there is something more to our origins and
concludes that some aspects of human consciousness, such as observation and communication signaling, may be shared with many other races of intelligence.
When we understand that “discovery and development” includes the ‘tiny bones’ that have been recently found on
the isle of Flores in Indonesia we are confronted with the bigger questions for both religion and science in the
reshaping of the path of evolutionary biology and traversing the confines of the old scientific camp that sees very
little coming out the islands of the Pacific. New comprehensive introductory texts will have to be written that not
only outline what archaeologists and paleontologists are discovering but address how it all fits into the big picture of
who we are and how we got here. Of course, for the evolutionists this confirms Darwin’s theory of natural
selection, but for the theologians it may not prove them wrong either, but point instead to a more vast achievement
within the megalithic yardstick that we are coming closer to understanding what the Christ figure spoke of in the
New Testament regarding our "Father's House of Many Mansions." |
